WestJet Cancels Flights Ahead of Strike

WestJet cancels 86 flights as strike looms, impacting travelers nationwide.

WestJet Airlines has announced the cancellation of 86 flights as tensions mount ahead of a potential strike. The strike, which could involve pilots, flight attendants, and other service staff, is set to occur if an agreement is not reached between the airline and the union representing its employees.

The cancelled flights impact various routes across Canada, causing disruptions for many travelers. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status and seek alternative arrangements as necessary.

WestJet, in a statement, emphasized its commitment to minimizing inconvenience to its customers during this period of labor negotiations. The airline indicated that the cancellations were a proactive measure in anticipation of the strike.

As of now, negotiations are ongoing, but the atmosphere remains tense as both sides work to come to an agreement. The workers are seeking better working conditions and pay adjustments, which have been points of contention during discussions.

The situation continues to develop, and both WestJet and the union have expressed a desire to avoid the strike, signaling that they are working diligently towards a resolution.

Travelers who are affected by the cancellations are encouraged to stay informed through WestJet’s official channels for the latest updates regarding their flights and the ongoing situation.
