Max B expresses his support for Drake over Kendrick Lamar, citing their recent rap battle and Drake’s new music as reasons for his choice.

Max B is staking his claim in the ongoing rap rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, openly choosing the Canadian rapper in a recent conversation. Speaking with Jason Lee, Max didn’t hesitate when asked whom he supports, saying, “I’m taking Drake, man. Yeah, I’m fucking with Drake.”

The Harlem rapper elaborated that his choice isn’t just about the explosive rap battle the two engaged in during 2024. Max has been listening to Drake’s latest tracks and has found them appealing, stating, “Drake’s new shit sounding good. I’m in the clubs with it.” Among his favorites, Max highlighted the track “Janice STFU,” adding, “That ‘Teach Me,’ baby, that right there. That’s my shit.”

Even though many observers felt Kendrick emerged victorious in their lyrical showdown, Max suggested the true test for Drake lies in how he rebounds from it. Drawing a parallel to the basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who faced intense public scrutiny yet went on to win additional titles, Max said, “It’s the equivalent of Kobe. Everybody wanted to boycott him out the NBA and all that. When he went out there, won two titles, you never heard about that shit no more.” This sentiment suggests that he believes Drake can find similar success through his music.

Drake has certainly been enjoying a stellar 2026 so far. In May, he released three albums simultaneously, making history as the first artist to take the top three spots on the Billboard 200 in the same week. Additionally, he surpassed Michael Jackson for the record of the most No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 among solo male artists.

On the other hand, Kendrick has found his own rewards from the rivalry. His diss track, “Not Like Us,” received accolades at the 2025 Grammys, winning both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, marking a first for a diss track. He also performed it during the Super Bowl halftime show, solidifying his presence in the current music landscape.

Max B’s comments come as he enjoys a resurgence in his own career post-incarceration. After returning home, he has received recognition from big names like Jay-Z and Bad Bunny but clarified that he doesn’t intend to stir any conflicts. “I’m on parole. I’m not trying to beef with nobody,” he stated. “My job out here is to make good product.”

As for his latest endeavors, Max’s collaboration with French Montana, “Ever Since U Left Me,” is nominated for Best Collaboration at the upcoming 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where Kendrick is also a contender in the same category with his track “Chains and Whips.”
