Liverpool are recalibrating their search for a prominent winger after receiving news that their primary target, Yan Diomande, is inclined to join Paris Saint-Germain. With Diomande, the RB Leipzig star, now seemingly set on moving to the French capital, Liverpool has turned its attention to another talent, Bradley Barcola of PSG, as they aim to replace Mohamed Salah, who has departed.

Interest in Diomande has reached a standstill. The 19-year-old, who has gained attention for his impressive World Cup performances, appears poised to sign with PSG. Sources indicate that PSG is optimistic about finalizing a deal with RB Leipzig in the near future. The Bundesliga club had previously sought a substantial fee, a demand that caused Liverpool to withdraw from negotiations after they declined to match Leipzig’s valuation of the talented winger.

In light of Diomande’s expected transfer to Ligue 1, Liverpool is now reportedly considering Barcola as an alternative option, according to Sky Sports. The 23-year-old has emerged as a key player on the Anfield recruitment team’s list, aligning with the club’s vision for a long-term replacement for Salah. This comes on the heels of Liverpool’s successful acquisition of Victor Munoz from Osasuna earlier in the current transfer window.

Barcola’s situation at PSG is somewhat precarious. While he is regarded as an asset, his ongoing frustration due to lack of playing time in crucial matches has raised doubts about his future at the club. His disappointment was palpable following his exclusion from the starting eleven in PSG’s recent Champions League final against Arsenal.

While PSG does not appear ready to offload Barcola just yet, financial considerations will come into play. With his contract nearing its end, the Parisian club may be compelled to sell if a suitable offer is made. They are unlikely to let him go at a bargain price but might be open to negotiations if the right opportunity presents itself.

Arsenal has also shown interest in Barcola, although they seem to be pursuing other targets at this moment. As the transfer window heats up, Liverpool appears most intent on testing PSG’s resolve, especially if Barcola returns from international duty feeling discontented with his role in the squad.

Barcola made the move to PSG in the summer of 2023 for a fee of €45 million. During his tenure at the club, he has made 152 appearances, netting 39 goals and providing 37 assists. He has contributed to PSG’s success, securing 12 trophies, including two Champions League titles and three Ligue 1 championships.

During the World Cup group stages, Barcola showcased his talent by scoring against Senegal and assisting in a match against Norway while representing the French national team.
