Kerim Alajbegovic has opened up about his choice to join Juventus, revealing that while major European clubs showed interest, the allure of the Bianconeri was simply irresistible. The Bosnian talent seemed set for a Premier League move until a last-minute decision redirected him to Turin.

Following an impressive tenure within the RB Salzburg system, Alajbegovic emerged as one of the continent’s most coveted young stars. Though clubs like AC Milan, Roma, and Napoli expressed interest, it was Chelsea who appeared to have initially secured a strong position in the race for his signature. Juventus swiftly capitalised on the uncertainty surrounding him and managed to clinch a deal.

In an exclusive interview with Tuttosport, Alajbegovic expressed the difficulty of turning down Juventus. He stated, “When Juventus call, it is truly difficult to say no. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I am truly proud to wear this jersey. Knowing the club had faith in me was really, really important for me.” The impact of Miralem Pjanic, who previously played for Juventus, was also a significant factor in his decision.

A core reason behind Alajbegovic’s move was his desire for a team that would offer a clear path to first-team football. Even though Chelsea’s proposal was financially appealing, he prioritised finding a manager who could ensure his development and immediate role in the squad. Luciano Spalletti, the current Juventus coach, offered this assurance, promising tactical integration and mentorship.

Alajbegovic has already begun adapting to the demands placed upon him by Spalletti. He remarked, “I can see in training how good Spalletti is, that he always wants perfection. It’s positive to work this hard because you learn something new in every session.” He highlighted the emphasis on precision in passing, movement, and positioning that has become a part of his training routine.

Joining a prestigious club like Juventus carries the weight of history and the attention of its legendary figures. Alajbegovic has already caught the eye of Alessandro Del Piero, arguably the greatest player to have donned Juventus’ colours. Del Piero recently praised Alajbegovic as a “real talent”—a compliment he greatly appreciates.

“Del Piero needs no presentation; everyone knows him, he’s a genuine legend. It is an honour that he said nice things about me; that is truly special. I just arrived and must continue working hard, showing everyone what I can do. There’s a long path ahead of me,” Alajbegovic expressed.

Apart from the challenges on the pitch, Alajbegovic has found camaraderie within the squad. He mentioned Kenan Yıldız, noting their shared German language as an asset. “Kenan is a top-class player and also a fantastic person. It’s really nice to have him here, as are the other players.
