Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to criticism regarding her recent dinner party for Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, by sharing additional invitations with a humorous twist. In her latest Instagram post, she joked, “We’re serving swordfish burritos, cheddar foam lattes on request.” This playful approach comes after the dinner sparked significant backlash earlier in the week.

Upon learning about the event, some social media users deemed Paltrow “tone-deaf.” Critics expressed their discontent not only about the guest list but also about the dinner’s “off-the-record” nature, leading to widespread jokes and criticism online. One comment on her post noted, “Ah yes, honoring Shrek. Very aligned with the whole ‘fairytale billionaire tech overlord dinner’ aesthetic,” and received nearly 300 likes. Another critique simply stated, “Stop supporting AI giants. Hope this helps, Gwyneth,” achieving over 500 likes.

As Paltrow’s post garnered more than 800 comments, many users shared their confusion regarding the spoof invitations. One user asked, “Can someone explain the joke to me please?” illustrating the mixed reception to her attempt at humor.

Earlier this week, the news of the dinner had prompted a flurry of discussions across various platforms, including Reddit, where a thread about the event amassed close to 500 comments. Many participants speculated on who might have leaked the invitation, further fueling the online discourse.

In recent months, Gwyneth Paltrow has increasingly engaged with the world of artificial intelligence, both as an investor and through her wellness brand, Goop. Her ventures include investments in customer-service automation startup Forethought AI and text-to-speech platform Speechify. Paltrow even mentioned during the Meltwater Summit in May that her team at Goop utilizes AI to create various assets and that she uses it as a “chief of staff.”

Additionally, her Goop podcast has featured a growing number of guests from the AI sector, including an interview with Anduril cofounder Trae Stephens this past June. As Paltrow continues to navigate this complex terrain, her interactions with social media and public opinion demonstrate the nuanced relationship between celebrity culture and technology.
