Rising star D4vd faces trial for the murder of a 14-year-old girl, with allegations including dismemberment and previous threats.
A Los Angeles judge has ruled that singer D4vd must stand trial for the alleged murder of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez. During a preliminary hearing on Monday, Judge Charlaine Olmedo determined that sufficient evidence was present to advance the case. “The people have met their burden on all counts,” Judge Olmedo stated at the conclusion of the session.
D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, remains in custody without bail. The hearing revealed shocking details, including gruesome photos from the crime scene where Hernandez’s dismembered body was discovered in September 2025. Prosecutors highlighted that Burke had purchased cadaver bags, a shovel, and multiple chainsaws following the alleged murder.
Evidence presented by prosecutors included various findings, such as nearly a dozen air fresheners found in the Tesla where Hernandez’s remains were located. An LAPD criminalist testified that blood in Burke’s garage matched Rivas’ DNA. Additionally, text messages exchanged between Hernandez and Burke indicated discussions about terminating a pregnancy, along with threats from Hernandez to ruin Burke’s career.
Burke, charged days after his April arrest with first-degree murder, could face the death penalty if convicted. He also faces charges related to lewd acts with a child and dismemberment. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The last known sighting of Hernandez was on April 23, 2025, when she visited Burke’s home in the Hollywood Hills. Her body was discovered months later, with arms and legs severed. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s report confirmed the cause of death as multiple stab wounds, classifying the manner as homicide.
The case has drawn significant media attention, raising critical questions about justice in cases involving minors. As the trial approaches, many await further developments.
