Ryan Reynolds Confirms New Deadpool Movie in the Works

Ryan Reynolds announces that a new Deadpool movie is coming, teasing deep comic cuts and future developments at Fanatics Fest.

Deadpool is far from done, as Ryan Reynolds shared during a recent panel at Fanatics Fest that fans can look forward to another movie featuring the Marvel antihero. However, he hinted that this new installment might explore some “deep cuts” from the character’s comic history.

Reynolds expressed, “There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing from the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics.” He continued by mentioning some notable comic writers, stating, “There’s certainly some stuff that I love that [Deadpool co-creator] Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that is incredible and Gerry Duggan, another friend and incredible comic writer, that we can put in. But then there’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another ‘Deadpool’ film. So it’s going to be great.”

In the wake of 2024’s massive success with “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Reynolds noted that he has already begun the process of writing the character’s return to the big screen. However, he clarified that Deadpool would not take center stage in this new storyline. “I have some stuff kind of written, but I don’t think I am ever going to center him again,” he stated. “He is a supporting character. He is a guy who is great in a group.”

While rumors swirled about Deadpool’s potential appearance in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film, Reynolds dismissed those claims to some extent. But he didn’t rule out the interesting possibility entirely, admitting, “If he becomes either, we’re at the end. Deadpool works so well appearing with the X-Men and Avengers, but he always needs to stay an outsider. His ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. But he can’t be accepted. His coping mechanism of deflecting shame through humor works only when used to pave over his many inadequacies. If and when he does become an Avenger or X-Man, we’re at the end of his journey.”

Marvel has yet to comment on Reynolds’ statements regarding the new movie. Fans are left eagerly anticipating what this new installment could bring, especially with the promise of diving deeper into the beloved antihero’s rich comic book lore.
