Aurelien Tchouameni signs contract extension with Real Madrid until 2031, rejecting interest from Manchester United amid transfer speculations.

Aurelien Tchouameni has reportedly made a definitive decision regarding his future at Real Madrid by agreeing to a massive contract extension. The French international midfielder will commit his long-term future to the Spanish giants despite concrete interest from Manchester United.

According to reports from RMC Sport, Tchouameni has reached a full agreement to extend his contract at Real until June 2031. This crucial decision effectively ends intense transfer speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, where United was prepared to launch a staggering bid in excess of €100 million.

The 26-year-old has solidified his intention to remain a long-term pillar for Los Blancos, as he feels valued as a vital component of the club’s future projects. However, lingering doubts about his future arose due to Madrid’s erratic domestic campaign and an alleged internal rift with teammate Federico Valverde.

New head coach Jose Mourinho reportedly played a pivotal role in this decision, as his arrival was definitive in convincing Tchouameni to stay and continue serving as an indispensable anchor in midfield. Mourinho’s authority over squad decisions meant he was heavily involved in the hierarchy’s choice to hand Tchouameni a new long-term deal.

United’s inability to land their primary target stems from the club’s hierarchy being hesitant in wrapping up financial packages for previous targets. After losing out to Tottenham Hotspur for Mateus Fernandes due to performance-related bonus structures, United once again found themselves empty-handed. Madrid opted to retain their asset instead of allowing a sale, forcing the Premier League side to seek alternatives, with Andrey Santos now set to join from Chelsea.

As Tchouameni focuses on international duties with the France national team at the World Cup, he has recovered from a muscle injury that had sidelined him for the round-of-16 tie against Paraguay. The midfielder has returned to full training, and his availability is a significant boost for coach Didier Deschamps ahead of a crucial clash with Morocco.
