Vic Mensa Defends Megan Thee Stallion’s Honor

In a passionate defense, Vic Mensa has come forward to support Megan Thee Stallion amid ongoing discussions regarding the treatment of Black women in the music industry. His recent post delves into the troubling narratives surrounding Megan’s experiences, particularly highlighting the mistreatment she has faced since the incident in July 2020, where she was shot in the foot by rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently incarcerated.

Throughout the legal proceedings, which culminated in Lanez being convicted of three felonies related to the shooting, Megan became the target of relentless online harassment and cyberbullying. Mensa pointedly criticized the societal reactions to her ordeal, stating, “How you ruin somebody’s life by them shooting you? ‘How could you do this to me? You ran your body directly into my bullets!'” He emphasized the skewed perception in the music industry, noting how male artists receive accolades for violent behavior, while female artists like Megan are often blamed and demeaned.

“Let a rapper kill somebody, their [music] sales through the goddamn roof. People are like, ‘Man, that’s a real n***a,'” Mensa remarked, illustrating the stark contrast in how male and female artists are treated following instances of violence. He elaborated on the double standards, saying, “Male artists are celebrated for having as much sex as humanly possible. For a woman, relationships you’ve had are used as justification for you to die.”

Mensa also took the opportunity to praise Yung Miami’s single “Spend Dat” as an exemplary piece of music and referenced the public fallout faced by Janet Jackson following her infamous Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction in 2004. He encapsulated his belief that systemic issues persist in how society treats women, particularly women of color.

In a follow-up on Substack, Mensa continued voicing his support for Megan, criticizing those who question her narrative regarding the shooting. Despite substantial evidence of her injuries, he noted, “people are still looking for a 1080P angle where she deserved it or made it up.”

Recently, Megan secured a legal victory against vlogger Milagro Gramz, who allegedly conspired with Lanez and his father to spread false information about her, including deepfake pornography that dishonored her image. This victory adds another layer to her ongoing fight for justice and respect in the face of adversity, echoing the sentiments Mensa expressed regarding the widespread mistreatment of Black women in today’s society.
