Fife Man Shot Multiple Times in St Vincent

A man from Fife was shot multiple times in Canouan, St Vincent and the Grenadines. Police are investigating the incident following his death.

A man from Fife has died after being shot multiple times on a Caribbean island, police have said.

Daniel Vettrino, from Dysart, was killed following an incident on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force reported that they responded to reports of shots being fired in the Gym Hill area around 23:30 on Wednesday. Vettrino, 36, was pronounced dead by a local medical officer shortly thereafter.

Authorities noted that a post-mortem examination is to be conducted, and an investigation has been launched following the tragic incident.

A member of Vettrino’s family spoke about the loss, describing him as “much loved by everyone” and a “pure soul who only wanted success and happiness for all of those around him.”

They added, “He has touched the lives of so many people, from his hometown in Fife to all corners of this world.”

The Foreign Office has offered its support to the family of the British national who died, confirming ongoing communication with local authorities in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Canouan is a small island within the St Vincent and the Grenadines archipelago, measuring just 3.5 miles (5.6 km) long and about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) wide, situated between the larger islands of St Vincent and Grenada.
