USMNT Manager Pochettino Offered Extension Through 2030

U.S. Soccer has reportedly offered manager Mauricio Pochettino a new contract that could extend his position through the next four years. This proposal comes ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with Pochettino’s current agreement set to expire at the conclusion of the tournament. The manager has shown a willingness to stay on with the national team under favorable conditions.

Pochettino has expressed interest in continuing his role, indicating that he has declined offers from other clubs due to his commitment to the U.S. “When I was in different clubs, I was always committed,” he stated. The Argentine emphasized that he respects his current contract and has put discussions with other teams on hold until after the World Cup. “Maybe after the World Cup, there is also the possibility of staying with the federation,” he noted.

JT Batson, CEO of U.S. Soccer, confirmed that talks about a potential extension have been ongoing. “We’ve had a number of very long discussions around what the next four years could look like,” Batson said. The realization of these contract discussions is particularly timely, as the U.S. team has made significant strides in their World Cup campaign.

Before the World Cup, U.S. Soccer reportedly made a formal offer to Pochettino that could cement his role leading the team until 2030. The discussions were agreed to be paused during the tournament, with the team’s performance expected to influence Pochettino’s future with the program.

Initially, he seemed to have secured a promising position, as the U.S. won their first two group matches and topped Group D. This momentum could serve as a favorable factor concerning his potential contract renewal.

Of course, I have met some people from different clubs.” He reiterated that his priority is to fulfill his commitments to the U.S. until July.
