Giannis Antetokounmpo has shared heartfelt insights on why he remains loyal to his wife Mariah, whom he married two years ago. Speaking during a recent podcast, the Miami Heat star addressed various opinions surrounding his relationship, notably disbelief regarding his commitment to his wife compared to potential relationships with models.
‘I’ve heard so many things. ‘Why is Giannis with his wife? He could be with a model. Not one model, but 10!’” Antetokounmpo remarked, emphasizing the depth of his feelings. He elaborated further, saying, “I am with my wife because she tells me the truth. She loves me, she will tell me whenever I do anything wrong. I know that she will kill for my kids and she would even kill me for them. I know that she won’t let my kids get a big head, and that’s the most important thing for me. I am in love. I am in love with her. As a woman and as a mother.”
The couple exchanged vows at the Costa Navarino resort in Greece, marking the occasion with a three-day celebration that attracted around 200 guests, including NBA stars LeBron James and Serena Williams, as well as Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Mariah, a former student-athlete at Rice University and once a staff member for the Philadelphia 76ers basketball operations, has cultivated her own identity beyond her marriage. In 2021, she launched her apparel brand, Sincerely, Mariah. Additionally, she co-founded the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation in 2022 alongside her husband, aiming to provide support to communities in Greece, Nigeria, and Milwaukee. Furthermore, she serves on the board of the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, which focuses on assisting with childcare and maternal health.
