Patrice Evra urges Manu Kone to choose Arsenal over Manchester United, emphasizing his ability to thrive under Arteta.
Patrice Evra has urged Manu Kone, the £51m Roma midfielder, to consider a move to Arsenal instead of Manchester United. The former United star believes Kone possesses the skills necessary to excel under Mikel Arteta’s management. Kone has attracted significant attention after his remarkable performances in the 2026 World Cup, prompting United to initiate talks about bringing him to Old Trafford.
The fierce competition for Kone’s signature has intensified this summer. Manchester United have been identified as the frontrunners to secure the 25-year-old, with an estimated valuation of £51m attached by Roma. In addition to these discussions, United has also focused on enhancing their squad with the recent arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
Despite his iconic status at Manchester United, Evra believes Kone would be better suited to Arsenal, where he could thrive in a style of play that aligns with his abilities. “I like Manu Kone’s profile for the Premier League. He has energy, he carries the ball, he likes duels and he works for the team,” Evra stated. He emphasized the importance of a player adapting to the fast-paced nature of the Premier League. “You don’t get time to breathe,” he added, reflecting on the demands of England’s top tier. Evra went on to caution fans not to judge Kone too quickly, suggesting that a few games should not define his potential impact in the league.
Evra’s push for Kone to join the Gunners comes at a time when Arsenal has been prioritizing the acquisition of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Reports indicate that Guimaraes has already reached a personal agreement with Arsenal. The legendary Chelsea player Claude Makelele has also lent his support for Guimaraes to make the move to the Emirates. Makelele commented on Guimaraes, saying, “Bruno Guimaraes is an ambitious player who sees his career one way: Champions League football, always, and teams built to win titles in Europe. Arsenal ticks every box.” He added, “It’s always right for a good player to join a great team, and Arsenal have done great business. I believe Guimaraes fits Arsenal perfectly.”
This summer transfer window appears to be pivotal for both Kone and Guimaraes, with each player having the potential to significantly influence their respective clubs’ futures. As the competition for top talents heats up, it remains to be seen where Kone’s future lies amidst the speculations surrounding both Manchester United and Arsenal.
