D4vd Changes Legal Representation in Serious Murder Case

Singer D4vd has made a significant change in his legal representation by opting for public defenders in his ongoing murder case, where he is accused of killing and dismembering a 14-year-old girl.

The artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, appeared in a Los Angeles court earlier today to request that the public defender’s office take over his defense. His previous legal team included high-profile attorneys who have represented notable figures such as Harvey Weinstein and labor union leader David Huerta. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo approved Burke’s request after a brief closed meeting with his attorneys.

This court appearance was a post-preliminary hearing where Burke pleaded not guilty to serious charges, including first-degree murder, which could expose him to the death penalty if convicted. He also faces additional charges for lewd acts with a child and for the dismemberment of the girl’s body.

Back in July, Burke received a ruling to stand trial after prosecutors revealed evidence linking him to the murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. His arrest occurred on April 16 in Los Angeles, with subsequent charges filed shortly thereafter. Prosecutors have claimed that Burke allegedly took the extreme step of murdering Hernandez after she threatened to publicize their relationship, potentially damaging his career.

The next critical hearing in Burke’s case is scheduled for October 19, as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
