Boosie Launches Streaming Platform After Tubi Dispute

Boosie Badazz criticizes Tubi’s payout and unveils his own streaming service, the Boosie Network, set to launch with original content.

Boosie Badazz is taking a stand against streaming giants, expressing his dissatisfaction with the earnings from the platform Tubi. The Baton Rouge rap artist revealed that he received just $120,000 for nearly 26 million streams of his film, My Struggle. During an interview on On The Spot, Boosie articulated his frustration, stating, “We did almost 26 million streams of one film. Really? And got $120,000.” He questioned whether he would fare better financially if he took matters into his own hands, asserting, “So I checked them out. You mean to tell me if I try this myself, I make triple of what I make? We have been fooled.”

In his criticism, Boosie drew parallels with the music industry, suggesting that streaming services like Tubi and Netflix have replicated detrimental practices. “What Netflix and Tubi and all these people done did is they done did what they did to the rap game. Now they done did it to the movie game too,” he claimed.

Responding to his grievances, Boosie announced the launch of his own streaming platform, the Boosie Network, set to debut on August 22. He encouraged independent filmmakers to distribute their work on his service, stating, “I’m fitting to make my own Netflix. I’ll pay you more than Netflix.” The Boosie Network will feature original content, with the flagship release being a documentary titled Legendary, which includes rare footage of Nipsey Hussle.

In addition to the documentary, the platform will showcase eight or nine new films on its launch day. “I got merch. I got music. I got fishing videos. I got eight, nine movies I’m dropping on August 22nd that you never seen before,” Boosie remarked about his offerings.

Boosie further detailed his business approach, offering collaborators on his platform $1 per sale on titles priced at $6.99, while keeping $5 himself. He promised, “If they buy mine a million times, I’m gonna give you a million-dollar check. And I make five.” He expressed confidence in his model, explaining, “Nobody’s doing what I’m going to do. I bet on myself.”

In other news, Boosie recently issued an apology to ASAP Rocky for mistakenly assuming he wore a thong during a performance. He expressed regret on social media, stating, “MY BAD ASAP IF THAT PHOTO WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO. I SAW THAT SHIT I WAS LIKE FUCK NO I COULDNT BELIEVE MY EYES. REAL N***A HAD TO SPEAK. THAT’S MY BAD IF IT WAS PHOTOSHOPPED BRO #love.”
