Benfica Signs Jhon Duran on Loan from Al-Nassr

Benfica confirms the loan signing of Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr, with details on transfer fees and Duran’s ambitions for the season ahead.

Benfica has announced the signing of Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr on a season-long loan, confirming the financial details surrounding the deal. The 22-year-old striker, formerly with Aston Villa, is aiming to make a significant impact as he returns to European football.

The Portuguese club will pay €6.1 million for Duran’s loan, which includes an option to purchase him permanently for €30 million at the end of the season. Following his arrival, Duran expressed enthusiasm about his new club, emphasizing his ambitions and desire to contribute immediately.

“I’m very grateful to God, just as I said when I arrived. I’m happy! I still say that it’s the biggest club in Portugal. I’m very grateful to be here. I have very high expectations for my time here. I want to play well, give it my all, and become a champion,” Duran stated.

Prior to his stint at Al-Nassr, Duran made his professional debut with Envigado, later moving to Chicago Fire where his talent began to catch the attention of scouts. His performances led him to a transfer to Aston Villa in January 2023. After Al-Nassr acquired him for €77 million, Duran experienced loan spells at Fenerbahce and Zenit before returning to Benfica.

Now back in Europe, the striker is eager to prove his worth. “I want to work hard and help my team,” he affirmed.

Duran will begin pre-season training under the guidance of Benfica head coach Marco Silva. The upcoming campaign will be crucial for Duran, whose performances will determine if Benfica activates their purchase option for him.
