Bayern Munich Set to Extend Konrad Laimer’s Contract

Bayern Munich is nearing the completion of a contract extension for Konrad Laimer, as confirmed by honorary president Uli Hoeness. Reports indicate that the agreement is almost finalized, with only the final signature required. Laimer, who has played 136 matches for the club since his arrival from Leipzig, is currently focused on World Cup duties with the Austrian national team.

Uli Hoeness let slip the positive update during a recent event in Upper Bavaria, stating that, “in principle only the signature is missing” for Laimer to continue his tenure at Bayern. While some reports initially suggested that the contract had already been signed, it is now clear that a verbal agreement is firmly in place, providing much relief to the club leadership.

Since joining Bayern on a free transfer in 2023, Laimer has made a significant impact. Before joining Bayern, he contributed 190 appearances and 15 goals for Leipzig. At Bayern, the midfielder has already registered seven goals over 136 appearances, proving his value in the squad.

Last season was particularly noteworthy for Laimer, as he played 47 matches across all competitions, netting three goals and assisting 13 times, while accumulating a total of 3,297 minutes of playing time. His accolades include two titles as German Champion and three victories in the German Cup, solidifying his status as an essential part of the team.

While his club future appears to be on solid ground, Laimer is currently dedicated to his responsibilities with the Austria national team. He has earned 59 caps and scored seven goals for Austria. Currently, the team is navigating a demanding World Cup campaign in Group J, having secured a crucial 3-1 win over Jordan but also suffering a 2-0 loss to Argentina.
