Cast Revealed for Snoop Dogg Biopic ‘Snoop’

As the film industry continues exploring the lives of iconic artists, Snoop Dogg is the latest to receive the biopic treatment. Set to release on August 6, 2027, the film titled ‘Snoop’ will be helmed by Craig Brewer, known for his work on ‘Hustle & Flow’, with Brian Grazer, the producer behind ‘8 Mile’, also involved in the project. Fans are already buzzing with excitement as casting news unfolds.

Featuring a talented ensemble cast, the film will highlight Snoop Dogg’s journey from a newcomer to a legendary figure in hip-hop. Actor Jonathan Daviss, recognized for playing Pope Heyward on Netflix’s ‘Outer Banks’, will portray Snoop himself. Myles Bullock, known for roles in ‘BMF’ and ‘Marvel’s Runaways’, takes on the role of Dr. Dre, Snoop’s long-time mentor and collaborator.

Lauren London joins the cast as Snoop’s mother, Beverly Tate. London is celebrated for her work in films like ‘ATL’ and ‘Without Remorse’. Notably, she appeared in Snoop’s iconic music video for “Drop It Like It’s Hot” in 2004, making this role particularly special.

In the film, Camron Jones will embody the late rapper 2Pac, while Algee Smith, who gained fame in ‘Euphoria’, will portray Warren G, a childhood friend of Snoop’s who played a critical role in his career. Smith and Snoop’s musical history includes their collaboration in the group 213.

The infamous Suge Knight, co-founder of Death Row Records, will be portrayed by Tre Hale, known for his recent appearance in Netflix’s ‘Nemesis’. Hale’s character will delve into the complex world of Death Row Records, which played a significant role in Snoop’s rise.

Additionally, Shante, Snoop’s wife since 1997, will be played by Hayes, who has made a name for herself in voice work, including as Doc McStuffins. The film also features Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, a close relative and collaborator of Snoop Dogg, and Booth as The Lady of Rage, another key figure from their musical landscape.

Sholotan, who has recently been seen as Carlton Banks in the ‘Bel-Air’ reboot, will take on the role of Kurupt, an early artist of Death Row who became part of Tha Dogg Pound alongside other notable artists.

As production kicks off in mid-September, anticipation builds around this biopic, which promises to give viewers an in-depth look at Snoop Dogg’s life and contributions to music culture. The current buzz suggests that ‘Snoop’ will not just be a reflection on Snoop’s career but also a portrayal of the vibrant era of hip-hop that he helped shape.
