Marlon Lundgren Garcia Crowned Vanity Fair’s American Style Icon

Vanity Fair names Swedish model Marlon Lundgren Garcia as the face of American style, sparking debate and interest online.

Vanity Fair has chosen a new ambassador for American style, highlighting a face that may surprise some: Marlon Lundgren Garcia, who hails from Sweden. Featured in the magazine’s September 2026 issue, Lundgren Garcia embodies a contemporary vision of male beauty that is increasingly shaped by fitness, skincare, and social media trends.

Standing at 6-foot-5, Lundgren Garcia was selected for the magazine’s “State of American Style” portfolio, which delves into the diverse aesthetics and personalities defined by the fashion landscape in the U.S. The feature, penned by Vanity Fair style correspondent José Criales-Unzueta and accompanied by photographs from Luis Alberto Rodriguez, aims to portray a broader narrative that transcends traditional Hollywood glamour.

The publication remarks on today’s culture: “In the age of protein, peptides, and looksmaxxing, everybody wants to look new. Marlon Lundgren Garcia, a Swedish-born model and internet streamer, is the kind of face (and six-foot-five physique) of perfection a generation of men pursue for themselves.” This echoes a shift in beauty standards influenced heavily by social media platforms.

Social media has played a significant role in Lundgren Garcia’s ascent. He has amassed a significant following as a streamer on platforms like Twitch, where he boasts 2.8 million followers. His presence in the online community, particularly those focused on self-improvement and men’s appearance, has undoubtedly contributed to his newfound recognition.

However, the magazine’s choice sparked online discussion regarding the appropriateness of selecting someone from overseas as an icon of American style. Comments emerged questioning why a Swedish individual would represent American aesthetics; one social media user erroneously labeled Lundgren Garcia as Swiss before being corrected. While some voiced concerns about this choice, others welcomed it, noting how the magazine aims to redefine American fashion narratives.

This feature isn’t centered solely on Lundgren Garcia. The broader portfolio showcases various archetypes that reflect American fashion today. Among others, it features JT as “The Body,” fashion designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla representing “The Artisan,” Princess Talita von Fürstenberg as “The Swan,” and Anna Van Patten alongside Phoebe Tonkin categorized as “The Clean Girls,” to name a few. These selections demonstrate Vanity Fair’s approach to portraying a multifaceted and inclusive view of the fashion world.

As the conversation around beauty and fashion evolves, Lundgren Garcia’s representation serves as a focal point for broader cultural discussions, framing how society perceives style in a contemporary American context.
