Liverpool Agrees Terms with PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Liverpool has reportedly reached agreement with PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye and is pursuing Bradley Barcola to enhance their squad this summer.

Liverpool has made notable progress in its summer recruitment efforts, reaching an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye. The Reds are now reportedly finalizing a significant double transfer that may also see Bradley Barcola join the club from PSG.

Details indicate that Liverpool has struck a financial deal for a five-year contract with the talented 18-year-old Senegal international, as confirmed by RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. Head coach Andoni Iraola views Mbaye as a key addition, aiming to boost the pace and youth in Liverpool’s attacking lineup following Victor Munoz’s recent arrival from Osasuna.

Despite interest from other top clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Mbaye appears intent on making the move to the Premier League. Last season, he made 29 appearances for PSG but struggled for playing time due to competition from players like Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

As negotiations move forward for Mbaye, Liverpool is also accelerating its pursuit of Barcola, having made an improved €135 million bid. The 23-year-old French international has long been on the Reds’ radar, with the latest offer showcasing their commitment to finally meet PSG’s valuation.

The club has been cautious about spending, especially after setting a record £125 million fee for Alexander Isak last summer. However, recent changes in Liverpool’s financial structure, including investment from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, have enabled a more aggressive transfer strategy.

PSG manager Luis Enrique has added to the intrigue surrounding the potential transfers of Mbaye and Barcola. Both players were excluded from the squad that played Lens in the Trophees des Champions, despite being available as substitutes in the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa just days prior. When asked about their futures, Enrique responded cryptically, stating he would discuss transfer matters only once the window has closed, before leaving the press conference.

The possible departures of these two players coincide with a major reshuffle at PSG, who have already secured new signings, including Ferran Torres from Barcelona and Mika Godts from Ajax. Liverpool appears ready to capitalize on this transition, particularly following the departure of star player Mohamed Salah, as they aim to enhance their squad ahead of the transfer deadline.
