Liverpool prepares new bid for PSG’s Bradley Barcola after transfer movement by PSG opens door for potential deal.
Liverpool is gearing up to make a fresh bid for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, aiming to secure the 23-year-old talent before the transfer window closes. The Merseyside club has received a significant boost in their pursuit following PSG’s recent confirmation that they have completed a £47 million deal for Belgian winger Mika Godts from Ajax.
This new signing is perceived as a clear indicator that Barcola’s time with PSG is nearing its conclusion. Liverpool is set to submit their offer next week, with optimism growing within the club about reaching an agreement. Throughout the summer, negotiations between the Reds and the Ligue 1 champions have been ongoing, but with PSG’s latest activity, a breakthrough now seems more attainable.
Despite PSG maintaining a hefty price tag of around £145 million for Barcola, the club’s need to manage its squad effectively, along with the player’s desire for more playing time, could lead to a compromise. Barcola has recently been left out of PSG’s matchday squad entirely, underscoring his diminishing role within the team.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Barcola did not even make the bench for PSG’s latest match, indicating continued active discussions between Liverpool and the player. The forward has noticeably been phased out by PSG’s manager Luis Enrique, opting to start Maghnes Akliouche in significant matches while Barcola was left as an unused substitute.
The interest from Liverpool is compounded by the fact that Arsenal has also been monitoring Barcola for a considerable period. However, reports suggest that Mikel Arteta’s team is reluctant to meet PSG’s demanding asking price, reinforcing Liverpool’s position as the front-runners for the forward.
For Liverpool, acquiring Barcola would signal a bold move and a statement of intent under new manager Andoni Iraola. The club has already made strategic signings, including Victor Munoz from Osasuna and Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona, and views the addition of another top-quality winger as vital.
As the start of the new Premier League season approaches, the urgency to incorporate depth into the squad is palpable. The departures of seasoned players like Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers have created gaps in the team’s defensive lineup, but the need for reinforcement in attacking positions is equally pressing.
PSG’s acquisition of Godts has been pivotal; his 30 goal contributions last season in the Eredivisie make him a clear candidate to fill in for the outgoing Barcola, aligning with Liverpool’s aspirations as the clock ticks down on the transfer window.
