Mikel Arteta Plans New Contract with Arsenal

Mikel Arteta confirms he will sign a new contract with Arsenal as he enters the last year of his current deal, emphasizing his happiness at the club.

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has confirmed that he intends to sign a new contract with the club as he enters the final year of his current deal. Following an impressive season in which Arsenal claimed the Premier League title, Arteta assured fans, “They don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here, I’m extremely happy and I feel very grateful to work with the people I work with. We will resolve that.”

Despite having a new deal deemed a priority by club co-chairman Josh Kroenke back in May, Arteta made it clear that he and the club would approach the situation organically. He expressed confidence that his desire to remain with Arsenal aligns with the feelings of the club leadership.

Arteta stated, “When we have the possibility, we will resolve that. That’s it. Everybody feels comfortable that the timing of the contract is not going to be an issue because my will certainly is to be here and I’m very happy here.” His optimism extended to Arsenal’s potential this season as they seek to defend their title and make strides in other competitions.

After reaching the Champions League final last season, the Gunners were praised for their defensive stability but faced criticism for a lack of attacking flair. In response, Arteta highlighted the squad additions of Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis while noting the pivotal players retained from last year’s team.

On the topic of whether his squad has enough attacking quality to compete for the title again, Arteta replied, “If they are fit, yes. But when you look last year at the amount of days, games, months that we missed a lot of our important players and players with a lot of goal threat, the manner that we sustained to have the season that we had, I think is remarkable.”

He emphasized his team’s ability to evolve: “We’re going to prefer to elevate our level, for sure, expecting that the rest will do the same, because that’s traditionally what happened in the league in the last few years. And that’s what we have planned this season, and we want to evolve it.”

Looking ahead, Arteta indicated that his preparations would be thorough, ensuring the team is equipped to win under any circumstance. “I have to prepare a team that is capable of winning in whatever the context is: because we’re not good enough on the day, because the opponent is so good, because the differences in games. That’s my job, that’s how I will prepare the team,” he concluded.
