FIFA president Gianni Infantino took to social media to commend Kylian Mbappe’s historic achievements in the aftermath of the World Cup held in North America. The prominent figure in world football not only praised Mbappe’s performance but also issued a strong condemnation against the racist abuse directed towards the French captain.

Mbappe has further solidified his legacy as one of the all-time greats, showcasing remarkable talent and setting multiple records during the tournament. Infantino emphasized Mbappe’s impactful journey, noting that the French striker earned the Golden Boot for the second consecutive time thanks to a total of ten goals, making him the all-time top scorer in both World Cup history and for the French national team.

In his remarks, Infantino celebrated Mbappe’s exceptional feats, saying, “The incredible Mbappé achieved the double at the World Cup, winning the Golden Boot for the second consecutive time thanks to his ten goals scored during the tournament in North America! The captain of the Blues also set several records.”

However, the tournament was not without controversy, as it followed a series of unacceptable incidents involving political figures. Infantino took the opportunity to address the disparaging comments aimed at Mbappe, denouncing the racist remarks made by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla. These comments, which circulated widely online, received backlash not just from fans but also from high-ranking officials across the globe.

“The entire football world and society stand in solidarity with the France captain during this period,” Infantino remarked, reiterating the need for football to be an inclusive space. He pledged that FIFA will maintain its efforts to eradicate racism within the sport and society at large.

While Mbappe’s individual brilliance emerged as a beacon of light in what ultimately proved a disappointing tournament for France, the 27-year-old’s performance throughout the knockout stages was nothing short of clinical. By the time the bronze medal match concluded, he had netted a remarkable 22 goals in World Cup history, surpassing Lionel Messi.

Despite the accolades showered upon him, Mbappe remained grounded, saying, “Messi is going to score, that’s for sure. I’m just trying to help my team win. When you score a lot of goals at the World Cup, it puts you in a certain category.”

In a heartfelt letter to fans post-tournament, Mbappe expressed gratitude for their unwavering support. In this emotional address, he emphasized the joint nature of their journey, asserting, “We wrote this story with millions of hands, not just 11 on the pitch, all carried by the same passion.”
