Elon Musk is activating a recruiting strategy recognized from his previous endeavors as he seeks skilled trades workers for the AI data center development at SpaceX. Recently, Musk shared an update on X, detailing that SpaceX is on the lookout for “exceptional engineering & skilled trades talent to build & operate the most powerful AI supercomputer clusters on & off Earth.”

The mention of “off Earth” aligns with Musk’s ambitious vision of placing data centers in space as a key solution to address the rising energy demands associated with artificial intelligence.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit “3 bullet points demonstrating evidence of exceptional ability,” together with their resume, to the specified email address.

Musk’s three-bullet-point requirement for potential candidates has become synonymous with his recruitment approach, further emphasizing the rigorous selection process. In the past, this method has extended to interviews for various roles within his companies, with candidates prompted to outline their significant technical problem-solving skills.

As SpaceX intensifies its recruitment push, particularly in trades, the company is cementing its role in Musk’s broader AI initiatives. Earlier this year, SpaceX made headlines with its acquisition of Musk’s AI startup, which has now been rebranded as SpaceXAI.

SpaceXAI is responsible for the operations of Colossus, a massive AI supercomputer center established in Memphis, Tennessee. This facility is pivotal for training SpaceX’s Grok AI models, aligning with Musk’s grand vision for the future of technology.

As the demand for AI continues to soar, Musk’s proactive strategy in recruiting trades workers signals a significant phase in SpaceX’s ambitions, emphasizing the intersection of technology and skilled labor.
