Leeds United has secured an agreement for Harry Wilson to join on a free transfer after his Fulham contract expires this month.

Leeds United has officially reached an agreement to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer. The move comes as the Wales international is set to leave Fulham when his contract expires at the end of June.

Wilson, who enjoyed a standout season, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists while playing for Fulham in the 2025/26 Premier League, attracted interest from several clubs including Aston Villa and Everton. However, he has opted to join Leeds, agreeing to a long-term deal that is contingent upon him successfully completing a medical.

Fulham had made efforts to retain Wilson, attempting to persuade him to sign a new contract following his best season in the league, but he ultimately decided to pursue the opportunity at Leeds. This signing is significant for Leeds, especially in light of Wilson’s prior transfer drama where a Deadline Day move to Elland Road last year fell through when Fulham failed to finalize the necessary paperwork.

In addition to Wilson, Leeds United is actively exploring a second acquisition in Julian Brandt, who will also become a free agent at the end of the month after leaving Borussia Dortmund. Furthermore, the club is engaged in talks with Southampton regarding midfielder Shea Charles, with their initial £20 million offer being deemed insufficient by the Championship club.

As Leeds approaches a crucial summer transfer window, they are focused on solidifying their position in the Premier League. Manager Daniel Farke aims to enhance the squad with quality players, aiming for more individual brilliance to further strengthen a team known for its toughness on the pitch.

Addressing goalkeeper needs is critical, with ongoing discussions with Karl Darlow, whose contract expires on July 1. Should Darlow depart, Leeds could find themselves in need of a new starting goalkeeper, particularly given uncertainties surrounding Lucas Perri after he was relegated to the bench.

Leeds had a bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected in January as they chose not to meet Crystal Palace’s £48 million purchase of a player from Wolves, and they may revisit the idea of adding a striker this window. Relying on Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, both known for their inconsistent injuries, poses a risk.

Lastly, Facundo Buonanotte’s return seems unlikely after a lacklustre six-month loan period with Brighton, while the status of Joel Piroe and winger Wilfried Gnonto remain uncertain. Piroe chose to stay at Leeds despite interest from the Championship and Celtic, while Gnonto is reportedly looked at by Bundesliga side Freiburg.

On the left side of defence, Leeds are limited with Gabriel Gudmundsson and Pascal Struijk being the only natural options. Farke has successfully adapted James Justin for that role, yet it’s clear that another defender capable of filling in where needed would be a valuable addition this summer.

Upcoming games for Leeds include a match against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, which will be vital as they look to secure their position in the league.
